Snowmass
Village has an abundance of activities and events for the whole
family. Surrounded by snow-kissed peaks, dense forests of shimmering
aspens and colorful wildflower fields, rafting, hiking, horseback
riding, biking, kayaking, fishing, golf, disc golf, paint ball
and more, keep your family active and entertained all day.
Shopping, dining or sunning by the pool at one of many mountain-side
lodges provides rest and relaxation after a full day.
An authentic Western rodeo every Wednesday offers opportunities to learn
about and participate in the age-old traditions of the early pioneers.
Calf scrambles, mutton bustin’, barrel racing, and roping make
this weekly event both educational and exciting for family members of
all ages. A hearty western BBQ, buffet and saloon, western-wear-shopping,
a petting zoo and a mechanical bull, keep family members engaged. Round
out your evening with a campfire, marshmallow roasting and a warbling
cowboy following the rodeo. Yee-haw!
The Anderson Ranch Arts Center, offers art classes for both children
and adults. Workshops are taught by prominent artists, curators and educators
and are hosted in fully equipped studios nestled in lush surroundings
to inspire and guide you through the creative processes spanning all
mediums. From pottery, painting, drawing, print-making and wood working
to photography and digital arts, your family will enjoy the time spent
together learning a new craft or perfecting their own.
Camp Aspen/Snowmass, hosted in Snowmass, offers a group and private lessons
in mountainboarding, skateboarding and mountain biking. Learn from a
pro, then get out on the mountain!
Thursdays offer a great opportunity to gather the family for a host of
free activities. Kids Krafts from 4-5pm is a free crafts hour where kids,
ages 5 to 15, create vacation mementos such as felt animals, beaded bracelets
and bird feeders. Then gather the rest of the family for a picnic on
Fanny Hill featuring popular live music under the stars. An adjacent
Family Zone offers a variety of activities for the younger tikes while
the rest of them may dance, sing or just sit back and relax.
The Snowmagical Family Fun Fest in July is another free event, featuring
top magicians, entertainers and kids’ performers. What a terrific
way to spend a sunny afternoon in the mountains.
Other free family activities in Snowmass include sing-a-longs and story
telling, guided walks and movies. Keep your family entertained, engrossed
and inspired while creating lasting memories.
